Injuries Reported in North Heidelberg Township Ambulance Crash at North Heidelberg and West Meadow Roads
North Heidelberg, Pennsylvania (September 12, 2018) – Injuries were reported in a crash between a car and a Western Berks Ambulance in North Heidelberg Township on Tuesday evening, according to the State Police.
The crash was reported at around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 11 at North Heidelberg and West Meadow Roads.
Police said the ambulance was transporting a patient to Penn State Health St. Joseph’s and was traveling northbound on North Heidelberg road when a 19-year-old Wernersville man pulled out from West Meadow Road.
The Ambulance driver tried to brake but the vehicle slid and crashed into the car, before rolling over.
The Car was pushed over the guardrail in the opposite side of the road by the crash.
Emergency crews from the Western Berks Ambulance and Muhlenberg Area Ambulance Association responded to the crash and transported five victims to hospitals for treatment of minor-to-moderate injuries.
The driver of the car reportedly admitted having smoked marijuana prior to the collision.
The State Police are investigating the accident.
