Michael Baker ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in St. Petersburg Crash on Park Street N and Fifth Avenue N
St. Petersburg, Pennsylvania (September 18, 2018) – The motorcyclist who was killed Saturday night after slamming into a truck in St. Petersburg has been identified as Michael Aaron Baker, 30, of St. Petersburg, according to a police report.
The fatal crash happened at around 5:25 p.m. Saturday, September 15 on Park Street N. and Fifth Avenue N.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, Baker was riding a 2018 Yamaha northbound on the road at a very high rate of speed while Andriy Dorosh, 28, of St. Petersburg, was operating a 2016 Dodge Ram box truck southbound.
As Baker approached Fifth Avenue N, he tried to make a right turn. Police said Baker lost control and slid into the southbound lanes where his motorcycle collided with the front of the box truck.
Baker, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
