Man Killed In Wauconda Truck Accident on North Fairfield Road
Wauconda, Illinois (February 21, 2018) – A 47-year-old Elgin man died after being hit by a truck in Wauconda on Tuesday morning, February 20.
The fatal collision occurred at about 12:40 a.m. on North Fairfield Road near Illinois Route 176 in Fremont Township.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 47-year-old driver of a truck belonging to a refrigeration company had been driving traveling southbound when he stopped to adjust the load in the back of his truck.
A short time later, a driver of the second truck belonging to the same company operated by a 45-year-old man pulled over to render assistance to his coworker.
It is reported that the man may have forgotten to engage the right gear causing the second truck to roll forward and strike the 47-year-old man, pinning him between trucks.
The man was transported to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was later pronounced dead.
No other information was provided.
An investigation into the fatal incident is underway.
