Dylan Meals, Cody Cotherman Killed in Head-On Crash on Route 208 in Salem Township

Clarion County, Pennsylvania (September 24, 2018) – The two people who were killed Saturday evening in a head-on collision in Salem Township have been identified as Dylan Meals, 21, and his passenger Cody Cotherman, 27, both of Knox, according to police.

The fatal accident happened at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, September 22 on Route 208, between Nickleville Road and Ron McHenry Road.

Police said Meals was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado on Route 208 in the oncoming lane of traffic while Brandon Switzer, 21, of Emlenton, was operating a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2600 HD westbound in the correct lane of traffic.

As the vehicles driven by Meals and Switzer approached each other, both drivers made an evasive manoeuvre toward the berm of the road and collided head-on.

Police said Meals’ vehicle then burst into flames.

Meals and Cotherman were pronounced dead at the scene while Switzer was airlifted to Allegheny General Hospital with serious injuries.

State police along with Knox Volunteer Fire Department, Clarion EMS and Emlenton EMS responded to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
