Driver Stuck and Injured in Murrysville Crash on Route 30 in Hempfield
Murrysville, Pennsylvania (December 30, 2017) – One person was injured when a pickup truck struck his car Thursday night in Hempfield.
The accident took place at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday, December 28, along westbound lanes of Route 30 in Hempfield.
According to a witness report, a car was struck by a pickup in front of the Acura dealership along Route 30 in Hempfield. The vehicle then flipped over, and the engine caught fire with a driver trapped inside.
An employee at Smail’s Honda Village extricated the motorist out of the overturned car while the engine was on fire.
Another employee also helped put out the flames using a fire extinguisher. The driver complained of pain to his back, authorities said.
The collision caused significant damage to parked vehicles in the Acura Dealership.
The car was towed away from the scene while the pickup truck, which sustained damage at the front end, pulled over about a ¼ mile from the scene, authorities said.
According to Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety, the collision prompted the closure of one of the westbound lanes of Route 30 for several hours.
No further information regarding the identity of the victim and the crash were immediately available.
