Tilden Township, Pennsylvania (September 22, 2018) – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Tilden Township, Berks County on Friday morning, according to the State Police.

The crash took place at around 6:30 a.m. Friday, September 21 on Route 61 at Cabela Drive.

Police said Mark A. Schaner, 31, of Harrisburg, had crossed the highway into the median then turned back into the northbound lanes and was hit by a car driven by 53-year-old Francis A. Mack of Frackville.

Emergency crews responded to find Schaner lying unconscious in the northbound lanes of Route 61.

Schaner was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The authorities closed one lane of Route 61 as the scene was cleared.

The crash is under investigation.
